Reworked Sea Glass Pendants

Sea Glass pendants in Silver Wire with lots of Swirl detail

Sea Glass Pendant with Silver Wire, re wrapped and weaved.
I decided it was time to take stock of all my makes and realised I could improve two of my seaglass pendants. So I started to  change the details then ended up cutting off the previous wrap and starting again. So they are now very different and an updated version of where I am with weaving and design at the moment. Sea glass creates challenge since the glass has bumps and is uneven and  is shaped from the waves at sea.  What do you reckon? Do you like the results?

New Silver Wire Necklace with Gemstones

I made a long chunky necklace with Green Gemstones and Antique Copper wire and since its coming towards summer I thought I should make a summer version with silver wire and bright colours.
I love silver and any turquoise together, however these aqua marine beads did not make the striking contrast I had initially envisaged. The aquamarine gemstones are very earthy with some brown hues. I added cracked quartz in crystal , pale  blue and pink. These add a sparkle. So the result is a very pastel summer gemstone collection with silver wire. The necklace is long and the wire beads chunky. There is
crackled quartz added to the back and a handmade clasp.

I am taking this necklace to my stall next Sunday 5th May at Grandma's Proud Fair at Hillhead Book Club restaurant/bar just off Byres Rd. This is one of my last stalls before xmas since I want to concentrate on learning new techniques and the silver

smith classes which I start next week. Any feedback, what do you think?
I would like to try a similar necklace with dark blue gemstones, but we need some pastels for summer.

New Necklace, Antique Copper and Blue Wire

It is difficult to take good photos of jewellery so I have only one photo to upload this evening and need to try again to photograph the other items I have made this week.
This is an antique copper and blue coiled bead necklace with cracked quartz gemstones and handmade chain and  handmade clasps. Photo of matching earrings to follow.

Wire Bonanza

Summer Wire Jewellery
Every wire order gets bigger, so today 275 meters of wire arrived in the post.I got right into it after work, how long will it last?
The wire coiling gizmo eats wire, so this order will not last long. I have spent evening coiling different sizes of wire beads to combine with lovely blue aqua marine gemstones. I am making another long chunky necklace and then a fine detailed  necklace. Previously I coiled and created the same day (7hrs).
Now I am separating the two since you can coil and watch TV chat etc.
I just missed another delivery- my birthday order -my torch and soldering equipment so I will have to clear a work space instead of working from the dining room table.
I am hoping I can practice with the torch outside if the weather improves and the wind disappears!
So more jewellery in progress.

Some History, Let Glasgow Flourish Coins

The Great Exhibtion 1901 and Let Glasgow Flourish coins

I found these coins at my local charity shop. I enjoy finding unusual old things to incorporate in jewellery. The shop had attempted to polish them and they already have drilled holes.
So what are they about to become?
A pair of earrings or a pendant, or a charm bracelet, Its fun trying to decide, watch this space for the finished article.

Scottish Sea Glass and more wire weaving

This is a lovely piece of sea glass from a Scottish Beach with a history at sea I can only guess.
Its a lovely aqua colour. I wrapped this with 16 gauge thick Silver plated wire since I wanted  a solid design on the glass to balance the size and weight of the pendant. I enjoyed weaving the bail with thin silver wire and adding some scroll details. It has  a nice clean sharp appearance.
I will add this to leather cord with of course its own hand forged clasp. The start of another adventure.

Wire Woven Ring

Wire Woven Ring

This is my first attempt at weaving a ring for myself with wire. I was not sure how it would come out. I had a picture in my head and this is close. The weaving is very attractive so I definitely will have more.
I had to get my wedding ring cut off after my hand got swollen from an insect bite. I had been at a workshop in the forest helping my son make a den.It was a survival course and due to one wee midge bite I would not have survived without antibiotics (rather ironic). So I am now making a series of rings for myself until I find the right replacement. I want a ring desinged and made by myself.

What to buy a jewellery maker for birthday present

Well I celebrated my birthday today since its the holidays I chose today to have a family trip to Edinburgh. I was delighted to receive a set of private silver smithing lessons as a present and torch kit on order. I had been wondering whether to return to night classes (this is a hobby) or continue with wire work. Since there are so many great wire weaving tutorials on the internet I was thinking of concentrating on that. However I am pleased to have this shove back to silver smithing.
My first project will be to make a new wedding ring since I had to get my rings cut off recently when my hand  became swollen in response to a bite..

This jewellery making be warned is highly addictive, there is so much to learn. I will update this post hopefully with a picture in a few months time.

Wire wrapped sea Glass Blue and Antique Copper

Sea Glass Wire Wrapped

Steam Punk Wire wrapped Sea Glass

I was nursing a horrible fever today when I should have been out and about on this sunny Easter holiday with my children. So I ended up creating again. I wanted to make my sea glass wrap very different to usual with lots going on  so I set myself a challenge. This was the result.
What do you think? I am pleased with all the swirls reminiscent of clock  mechanisms.
