My new card

My two young sons designed this card for me.I like it.

Hammering wire

This weekend I was hammering my handmade findings including S clasps and wrapped loops for pendants.I used an old flat iron I have as an ornament instead of an anvil,it worked well apart from the handle getting in the way. Today I got a post of a link for a good hammering/wire tutorial which is worth keeping for next time

Tutorial wire clasps

I tried unsuccessfully to buy findings for leather I wished to use for  pendants I have made.
I was pleased to find a tutorial on pinterest for an "S" clasp and wrapped clasp and for leather finding.

Neat leather handmade findings

S clasp
Like all wire work it took ages to make but I am pleased with results and my pendants are now boxed and ready to donate for sale to Shelter.
I hope my pendants now look good with matching wire findings all handmade.
I like  making this jewellery with little more than
some wire, leather length and some reclaimed sea glass. This is the link for the tutorial

Silver wire spring basket of flowers pendant

Wire weaved basket-Learning to work with wire.
I made this basket to practice the two by two wire weave technique which comes out neat. With this 24 gauge silver wire it takes along time to weave. I like the novelty of the working handle.
I made this for a pendant but it would also work as a brooch.

Working with  wire is not as easy as it looks I intend to keep practising and will  hopefully post some improved results.

Jewellery for SHELTER

I had to guess how to wire wrap a heart shape

wire weaved bail and pleated wire

First attempt at making wire basket, silver plated wire

copper wire wrapped heart stone
This month I have been making jewellery for Shelter.I asked the local charity shop to keep some broken unsaleable jewellery for me to alter and redesign for sale. They gave me some jewellery they were due to discard.
At the same time I bought some love heart stones from the shop which I wire wrapped. I took the jewellery in at the weekend and it got approval. So I now need to add chain, ribbon or leather to the pendants.Perhaps now they have seen what I can produce they might start saving stuff for me to recycle for them.I am interested in the challenge of producing something from donated objects.

So these should be on sale at local shelter shop soon and I have bought a few more stones to make  pendants for sale.Everyone is unique.

http://wickwirejewelry.blogspot.co.uk/2010/03/free-tutorial-2-woven-wire-pendant.html#
Found this tutorial to wire weave a stone, must give it a go and see if I can improve my wrapping.
I like the tip of putting the copper wire pendant in a tupperwear dish with a boiled egg to get a great patina.

I would also love to try the wonderful tutorial by Rock and Gem online who use square and half round wire which I have bought in to try this tutorial.I will post results.

wire wrapped sea glass with weaved bail

Aqua sea glass, wire wrapped with copper wire with a weaved bail

wire caged sea glass for earrings
I enjoyed collected the sea glass last week
and practising wire weaving.I used thick gauge wire although I know you are meant to use thin wire and I was pleased with the result.
I intend to take more photos and list in My Etsy shop page Encanto Jewellery Designs

I am still practising wire cages, for earrings,
everyone  seems to want them and I want to get better.
Its difficult since the sea glass is different shape and size so you have to guess size for cage.
